Department of Environmental Studies Message
The Core Moudle syllabus for Environmental Studies includes class room teaching and field work or project on Environment related topics. The syllabus is divided into eight units covering 50 lectures. The first seven units will covers 45 lectures which are class room based to enhance knowledge, skills and attitude to environment. Unit eight is based on field or project activities on environment topics which will be covered in five lecture hours or more and would provide student firsthand knowledge on various local environmental aspects. Field experience is one of the most effective learning tools for environmental concerns. These moves out of the scope of the text book mode of teaching into the realm of real learning in the field, where the teacher merely acts are catalyst to interpret what the student observes in his or her own environment.
Course material provided by department for class room teaching and field or project activities be utilized. Environmental studies or ENVS core module shall be integrated into the teaching programmers of all undergraduate courses. The examination will be conducted along with the Annual Examination. The environmental studies or ENVS course of 50 lectures will be conducted in the first semester (semester system) and the examination shall be conducted at the end of the semester. The course will be awarded 4 credits(credit system) and carry 100 marks.
