Department of Economics

Mission: 

The Economics Department of our college was granted affiliation by the B. U. in 1998 and consequently a full- time teaching post was sanctioned by the Govt. of W. B. for the Deptt. in the same year. But, unfortunately the post is lying vacant till date due to  non-availability of suitable candidate to be recommended by the W.B.C.S.C. .However, the deptt is still running to impart lessons to the students by one of our experienced senior faculty, Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sarkar, Associate Professor in Economics in the Commerce Deptt. , who takes classes regularly in this Deptt., besides his allotted classes in the Commerce Deptt. As such, there will be no problem for the students to continue their studies in this Deptt. Besides, it is expected that the vacant post will be filled up very soon as the COLLEGE AUTHORITY is trying its best in this regard.                                   

VISION: 

The students of Geography Hons & Pol Science Hons will be highly benefitted if they take Economics as a GENERIC ELECTIVE  subject in their course of studies. Further, it is expected that the affiliation of Economics Hons course will be granted by the B. U. & Govt. of W. B. in near future. The College Authority is trying hard in this matter. This will be very helpful for the young aspirants in near future.
